Travis Barker wants to overcome flying fear

13th July 2012

Travis Barker confesses that he's "scared to death to fly."

The Blink 182 musician is father to Landon, eight, and Alabama Luella, six.

Travis survived a plane crash with his friend DJ AM in 2008 that left four people dead. DJ AM, who is Nicole Richie's ex-boyfriend, died soon after the incident from a drug overdose allegedly brought on by survivor's guilt.

Travis admits that the plane crash trauma prevents him from being as mobile as he'd like to be.

"It's something I want to overcome for me and my kids are scared to death to fly. I want them to witness me overcome it," he told the August edition of The Red Bulletin. "I've got to get over it, man. I could simply say I'm not going to fly for the rest of my life. I'm not going to. It's something I honestly want to try to put behind me."

Travis is becoming cognisant of how his fear is impacting his career.

"I'm not flying, so it's hard to say what the band potential is, because I can't really get around anymore," he shared. "I want to overcome that eventually. When I do, I think it is going to be Australia. I trust Qantas. They never had a crash, never had a fatality knock on wood."
