Uchithanai Mukarnthal Movie Review

19th December 2011

Cast: Sathyaraj, Nassar, Seeman, Sangeetha

Director: Pugazhendhi Thangaraj

Ratings: 3.5/5

Some minus points but overall a great attempt!

If you are the one who goes to cinema halls just to kill some time, Uchithanai Mukarnthalhas got nothing to entertain you. But if your pick is a meaningful cinema with a heavy dosage of reality, Uchithanai Mukarnthal is here for you to worship.

Perhaps sensing that Kaatrukenna Veli failed to make the desired impact thanks to its lesser known cast, Pugazhendhi Thangaraj has opted for popular stars this time. For we have Sathyaraj, Seeman, Nasser, Lakshmi and Sangeetha in pivotal roles.

Professor Natesan (Sathyaraj) is the one who always voices for the cause of Sri Lankan Tamils. This identity of him often takes him behind bars. But he is not ready to slow down.

He has a wife (Sangeetha) and when both start expecting a child, enters into their lives Punithavathi (Neelika) from Batticaloa, who has been gang raped by brutal men in Sri Lanka. With the help of police inspector (Seeman) and doctors (Lakshmi and Naser), Natesan wants to restore peace in the life of Punithavathi. Whether he succeeded in his attempts or not has to be seen on screen.

Punithavathi is the real scene stealer. The young girl has given a splendid performance.Sathyaraj, Seeman, Sangeetha add solid support, while the performance of Lakshmi andNasser is praiseworthy. D Imman's music and B Kannan's cinematography are the two things which make us to attach ourselves more with the film.

Though there are minus points to be mentioned, the plus points stand tall, making Uchithanai Mukarnthal one of the very few meaningful movies this year.
