(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Vanessa Hudgens has been showing off the new tattoo she got last night.

The former Disney star has adopted a goth image in recent weeks and has attended several shows at New York Fashion Week. Apparently determined to prove she has grown up since she starred in the High School Musical franchise, a picture of Vanessas first piece of body art was posted on Twitter yesterday. The 22-year-old chose to have a butterfly tattooed on her neck to complete her recent makeover. It is believed she chose the image because her name is of Greek origin and means butterfly.

Celebrity tattoo artist Bang Bang who has created tattoos for Rihanna provided the inking for Vanessa.

DJ-and-model Ruby Rose took to her Twitter account to post the picture of the new tattoo and admitted she was involved in Vanessas decision.

Please don't blame me.. But I may have convinced Vanessa Hudgens to get a tattoo... Now. Her first. By bang bang (sic), she wrote.

Ruby later asked her followers to help choose where Vanessas tattoo should be placed.

Vanessa is deciding between her neck or ribs what do you guys think? she added from the tattoo parlour in New York.

Earlier in the day, Vanessa sat in the front row alongside Kanye West and Keri Hilson as designer Jeremy Scott showed off his latest collection. The actress who was wearing a floor-length velvet coat, a velvet dress with cross embellishments and split toe biker boots - then enjoyed dinner with Ruby and Australian group The Veronicas before she headed to the tattoo parlour.
