Vanessa Minnillo: I wont let Nick plan wedding

25th March 2011

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Vanessa Minnillo wont let Nick Lachey plan their wedding as hed turn it into a sporting event.

The couple met in 2006 when Vanessa was shooting the promo for Nicks single Whats Left of Me. He popped the question last year, and the pair couldnt be happier.

Vanessa is looking forward to walking down the aisle, but is starting to get worried about her big day. Wherever she goes she is quizzed about her preparations, which only makes her realise how little shes done. The 30-year-old doesnt feel like she can turn to her fianc for help either, as she knows his idea of romantic setting is very different to her own.

I always feel irresponsible, like I'm unprepared for my test at school. We have nothing yet, except for the wedding planner, she tells talk show host Rachael Ray in an upcoming episode.

If I let Nick plan the wedding it'll be around some sporting event. We'll have a big old tailgate party with Miller Light! We'll have University of Cincinnati Bearcats running around!

The couple have kept the intimacies of Nicks proposal secret, only revealing it was almost ruined when a group of male tourists interrupted during the key moment.

Vanessa says it was special, although not a complete surprise as she had been waiting for the question for some time.

Since we've been together for so long every time he asked me to do something romantic, I thought it might be the moment," she laughed. "So even if I didn't want to, he'd be like, 'Baby let's go watch the sunset,' I'm like, 'OK.' Just in case it was. Nothing. 'Baby let's go take a hike.' Nothing. This went on for like a year! But I don't think you're ever prepared for the moment.

At the moment Vanessa and 37-year-old Nick have no plans for kids. They will probably have a family when they get older, but Vanessa is keen to have some time as newlyweds when they do eventually tie the knot.

Let's do it one chapter at a time, why rush?" she said. "We have the rest of our lives. If you have children, once they're there, they're there. You can't say, 'I don't think I want to deal with you today.' No, they're there!" (C) Cover Media
