Vidya Balan wins National Award

Bollywood actress Vidya Balan won the National award for the best actress for her performance as the late Silk Smitha  in “The Dirty Picture” at the 59th national awards. Vidya Balan who is known for her women-centric roles in her movies, was a hands down winner for the prestigious award. Vidya has also made a clean sweep earlier this year, winning the Best Actress Award on a number of occassions.

Vidya, who is busy in promoting her upcoming movie "Kahaani", has won many prestigious awards earlier for R Balki's Paa and Vishal Bharadwaj's "Ishqiya".

This happens to be the hat-trick success for Vidya Balan.

The best feature film award was shared by “Byari” and Marathi film “Deool”, which also won its actor Girish Kulkarni the best actor award.

Onir directed “I Am’, a compilation of four stories on identity, won the best Hindi feature film.

The winners of the prestigious 59th National Film Awards were announced by chairpersons of the jury recently. The awards will be given to the winners in a ceremony on 3rd May.
