Chiyaan Vikram was told by everyone that he would surely be carrying away the National award for his outstanding performance in 'Nanna', the Telugu version of the Tamil movie 'Deiva Thirumagal' but it turned out to be a big problem for the producers of Rajakaliamman Media to release the movie. It was because there were no buyers for the film as the distributors and theatre owners felt that though it is of a good quality, it will not work out commercially. Finally, UTV Motion Pictures gave a helping hand to the makers.

Both, the Tamil and Telugu versions, will be released simultaneously and the release date is yet to be confirmed. The film is directed by AL Vijay, son of producer AL Azhagappan, who had previously churned out hit movies like 'Kireedom', 'Poi Solla Poram' and 'Madharasapattinam'. The film has Amala Paul and Anushka Shetty in female lead roles opposite Vikram.

G.V. Prakash has scored the music for the film and the cinematography is handled Nirav Shah, with Anthony working on the editing.
