6th January 2012

A Court in Chennai has issued notice to four people, including leading actor Vikram, on a case filed against the actor's forthcoming period film Karikalan, seeking a stay order against its shoot.

Produced by Vasan and Parthi, "Karikalan", a period film on the life of great king Karikala Cholan, is being directed by L I Kannan. Starring Vikram in the lead role, the shooting is currently going on.

In his petition against the film, K Rajasekharan alias K S Nagaraj, the proprietor of M/s GSR Vinmeen Creations, claimed that he held the “pre-emptive rights to the title and the story” of "Karikalan".

Stating that he registered the title of the film in 1994 with the South Indian Film Chamber of Commerce, Rajasekharan alleged that but the story and the title are being used by Vikram and others to make a movie. The case has been posted for further hearing on 12th January.
