Acclaimed Bollywood filmmaker Vishal Bhardwaj is leaving no stone unturned for his magnum opus 'Haider' to hit it's target. The film which is an adaptation of Shakespeare's 'Hamlet', was completely shot in Kashmir as the story is set there.

The film was shot during 'chillai kalan' which is a term given by the locals for the '40 coldest days' in December and January in Kashmir. During this period, many of the locals doubled up as a part of the crew and hence Vishal wants to do something special for them.

The story has been adapted in Kashmir's setting and with support of the localites, the team completed the film even in such testing conditions. It is giveback time for Vishal as he wants to screen the film in the region where currently there are no working theatres.

Vishal, as a concerned filmmaker and mass entertainer, wants to release the film there not for any commercial gain but as gratitude towards the locals. He plans to bring a moving theatre to Kashmir for which he has written to the government there.

A special request penned by Vishal for special screenings of his adaptation of 'Hamlet' in Kashmir is now with the state's Chief Minister Omar Abdullah in the lead up to its global release on October 2.  

"We have sent a proposal to Mr Omar Abdullah because there are no working theatres in Kashmir and I really want Kashmiris to experience this film on a bigger screen,” said Bhardwaj.

When asked for details, he readily shared the same. "We are proposing a kind of moving theatre which can be set up in an outdoor location where Kashmiris can catch maybe one show a day once it’s dark. I really hope the proposal gets accepted," he added.
