Director: Kamal Haasan

Rating: 3/5

A well-made thriller

After battling the DTH controversy, objections from the Muslim community and Ban from Tamil Nadu High Court, Indian Artist Kamal Haasan's magnum opus 'Vishwaroop' finally released for the audiences.

Written, Directed and Produced by Kamal Haasan himself, the film is a decent watch.

The film starts with Vishwanath (Kamal Hassan) who along with his wife Nirupama (Pooja Kumar) after an arrange marriage flies to America.

While Nirupama gets her Ph.D and Vishwanath runs his dance class in New Jersey, they live their life smoothly until their dreams get bigger.

Dr. Nirupama wants to end her marital ties with Vishwanath, but she has no strong point. And in order to cite a reason for her divorce she decides to hire a detective to find out the undiscovered facets of his life.

She is stunned to discover that he is not a Hindu but a Muslim, also discovering that he has some traces with Terrorist Omar (Rahul Bose).

The rest of the story is what actually happens to their lives when the facts are revealed. Who is at fault and who is not forms the basic crux of the film.

There have never been two opinions over Kamal's performance as an actor. But as a writer he surprises us with the in-depth research he has done on terrorism. He excels in penning a story that is so engaging.

However as a narrator, director Kamal Hassan performs below expectations. He does a decent job but fails to keep up the pace of the film. He should have stuck to his statement where he claimed that the film needed no songs.

Though Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy have done a good job, all the songs are a misfit in the film.

The film is of international standards in terms of cinematography and technical effects. The action sequences, most of which have been shot in studios appear so real that it becomes difficult to recognize that they were artificially created.

Like Kamal, performance by Rahul Bose too is at par expectations as the stunning actor never fails to impress you with his onscreen chronics.

Other lead stars Pooja Kumar, Andrea Jeremiah and Jaideep Ahlawat have lived up to the hype and delivered decent performances.

Watch the film as the team deserves our love and recognition after all the hard work put in to make this film stand out in the clutter.
