When the evening turned nostalgic

1st August 2011
Hattrick Hero Shivarajkumar was overcome with emotion, tears glistening in his eyes. Many in the audience at Chowdaiah Memorial Hall were likewise overwhelmed on the occasion of the felicitation of their favourite star by the Akhila Karnataka Shivarajakumar Sena Samithi.

Just like his father, the late Dr. Rajkumar, Shivarajkumar thanked his fans over and over, calling them 'abhimani devaru'. He said, "The happiness you have given me infuses new life into me and I feel young, fit with a willingness to do better. As responsible members of my fan club, you have not let me down. I promise I will give some of the best films ever in the coming years," Shivanna said to thunderous applause. "I have got strength now to carry on for 100 more films," he added.

Youngest brother Puneet said Shivanna had been able to complete 100 films not because he was the eldest son of Dr. Rajkumar. It was his inner strength and perseverance that have carried him this far, he remarked.

Raghavendra, the middle brother, pointed at the fans association office bearers and said, "The fans' association have done what our parents would have done," much to the pleasure of the audience.

Shivanna was feted with a Mysore Peta, silver sword, shawl and a fruit basket. He later watched the cultural medley put up by the dancers and applauded them for a fabulous performance. The Century Star was accompanied by wife Geetha, who had shaved her head to fulfill a vow and their daughter Niveditha.
