Famous Malayalam film director, Mohanroop has now set off to explore the Tamil film industry with his inaugural venture 'Thoothuvan'. Starring debutants Alan and Archana the film portrays lives in the slums and how crimes like child abuse and human trafficking poison the livelihood of the people there.

Alan is a Good Samaritan who tries to ease the sufferings of the victims. The movie also features Gopi Krishna, Bala Krishna, Kili, Rama Krishna, Kovai Senthil, Selva Kumar, Archana, Gauri among others. Lyrics are penned by Thozhan and background score is by Sajith.

“Thoothuvan, a singer, by birth catches the deepest hearts of people by his beautiful melodies, gradually becomes a protector of them” said director Mohanroop to give a gist of Thoothuvan’s character. “He helps them for their food, clothing and shelter, re-unite the abandoned children to the lost parents and quarrels with the gangsters, who frequently disturb young boys and girls taken away for sexual pleasure by the other classes” he added.

The cinematography of the film is by Dileepan and editing is by Sai Suresh.
