A. R. Rahman is known for charging exorbitant amounts for his films, but this time is hasn't charged a penny for the Kannada film 'Godfather', which is a remake of the Tamil Hit 'Varalaaru' which has Ajith in the lead role.
"Yes, Rahman composed the music for free as he didn't charge anything for himself. He charged, only for the studio, artists, instruments, recording and re-recording of the film." says Manju, the producer of the film.
Upendra, who is the main lead in the movie is playing a triple role, that is of a father and two sons. The movie also stars Soundarya, Catherine Tresa and Bhumika Chawla doing important roles. The movie is directed by Sriram.
During the music launch recently, Rahman surprisingly spoke in Kannada and revealed his Sandalwood connection. "Namaste chennagidira? (Hello, are you all fine?) I have travelled many countries and found out that Kannadigas are everywhere. I have been entertaining my fans by singing in Tamil and Hindi till date. From now on, I will start crooning Kannada songs." he said.
