Willie Garson: Acting builds confidence

30th May 2011

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Willie Garson would love his son to act as it would build his self-esteem.

The actor is best known for playing Stanford Blatch in Sex and the City. He is father to none-year-old son Nathen, who he adopted several years ago.

Fatherhood has completely changed Willie, and his only wish is that Nathen lives a happy life and experiences everything he wants to. If that includes pursuing an acting career, Willie wouldn't stand in the boy's way.

"I'm not going to drag him to auditions, but if he wants to act occasionally, and it doesn't interfere with school, I'd like him to," he told Grazia. "It will build his self-esteem."

Willie feels his life has more structure now he has a son. The pair speak to each other several times a day when they aren't together due to Willie's work commitments and the arrangement works well.

The 47-year-old adopted Nathen on his own so is careful to ensure he has enough female influence in his life.

"My business partner's wife Wendy is around all the time and there are two mothers of his friends at school who we're friendly with Nathan calls him this moms," he explained.

"I make sure he has lots of ladies around and not temporary ones either. I go on dates but nothing serious right now. I haven't had a girlfriend in a long time but I have happy acquaintances." (C) Cover Media
