Zac Efron feels like Dog Whisperer

18th April 2012

Zac Efron felt like the "Dog Whisperer" on the set of his new film.

The 24-year-old actor stars in romantic drama The Lucky One alongside Taylor Schilling. The movie tells the story of Marine Logan Thibault - played by Zac - who embarks on a journey to find the mystery girl who helped him survive war-torn Iraq.

Taylor plays Beth - a single mother and an owner of a dog training facility.

Zac has joked he feels like an expert in the canine field since working on the film.

"There was a lot [of training]. We had to train with the dogs, I did a lot of training physically to prepare for the role and training with the Marines and Navy SEALS. It was all very, very fun but [very] in-depth. The more training you do, the more it becomes second nature, and it was a great experience. I've never had more fun preparing for a role," he told MTV News.

"Now I can't handle my friends' dogs that are disobedient. After we had the best dogs. You feel like the Dog Whisperer for, like, a second."

Taylor also revealed she took away a lot of knowledge from the film set. The actress says although the training was tough at times, it was very rewarding.

"After we had the best dog trainers, I see people with their dogs walking in front of them with their leashes and think, 'I could help you if you'd just ask me,'" she quipped.

"They tried to help me learn how to run with the five dogs, but it never happened. I fell down a lot, but we made it through."
