Zac Efron: I want to win over new fans

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Zac Efron says his good looks make him more driven to win over people who arent attracted to him.

The 22-year-old former High School Musical star is keen to be taken seriously as an actor and he would like to be admired by other people as well as teenage girls.

However, he realises that his piercing eyes and high cheek bones have had a huge impact on his success in the film industry.

It's a big part of why I'm here and it's a big part of why my fans come to the movies," Zac said. "But at the same time, it just makes me more driven to get the people who aren't so easily swayed by that sort of thing."

The actor began his career when he was just 12 years old and is no stranger to the limelight. However, he feels that his increasing fame is becoming overwhelming.

Zac is currently involved in a re-make of Swedish film Snabba Cash and he immediately identified with the script.

I really like the story because it's a guy who, for very innocent reasons, finds himself in over his head - which just about explains everything in my life at this point," he confessed.

Zac realises it will take some time to establish a career away from the High School Musical franchise, but he believes it is possible if he is careful about the movie roles he accepts. The star understands he still has a lot to learn about the film industry but he is determined to enjoy a lengthy career.

"It's exciting, the stakes are high, and I've got a lot to learn, he admitted. But at the same time I feel hungry and ambitious and in no way does the task at hand feel daunting, I'm just purely trying to navigate all the twists and turns right now." (C) Cover Media
