Zoya's short inspired by a real story

10th April 2013

Filmmaker Zoya Akhtar is part of the four-filmmaker crew, who have teamed up for 'Bombay Talkies' that pays an ode to the Indian cinema which completes 100 years this May. While all the four filmmakers have directed short stories for the film, unlike others, Zoya's story is inspired by a real life incident.

Zoya's short film revolves around a boy whose obsession for Bollywood actress Katrina Kaif takes him to another level as he tries to imitate her in all ways possible. Recently, the filmmaker shared that her story is based on an actual experience she had with a Katrina Kaif fan.

The filmmaker never quite got the opportunity to portray the story onscreen. So when 'Bombay Talkies' came up in the form of a white canvas, Zoya felt that there could not have been a better platform to present this story, which according to her is really close to her heart. Zoya further worked on the script and is all set to present a beautiful story on how Bollywood affects people's life in special ways.

'Bombay Talkies' which will present stories by Zoya, Karan Johar, Anurag Kashyap and Dibakar Banerjee, is all set to hit the big screens on May 3, 2013.
