On Tuesday, the member of parliament shared a photo collage, in which she is having a conversation with Mrs.FunnyBones. Smriti Irani caption's a pic saying, "Delighted to meet @mrsfunnybones who discussed upcoming film PadMan."

Smriti Irani was impressed to meet Twinkle, who raised a social issue through her film. Well, this would also be Twinkle's first film as a producer. This is a light-hearted movie based on a biopic based on the life of entrepreneur Arunachalam Muruganantham, who invented low-cost sanitary pad making machines.

The makers recently revealed the trailer of 'PadMan', which stars Akshay Kumar in the lead role. In no time, the trailer crossed over 20 million views in two days.

In an interview with news agency IANS, Twinkle said, "If nothing else, I am hoping that PadMan will start a conversation within homes."

In an interview with BBC, she highlighted tax on sanitary napkins in India as an issue which is quite bold. She also raised some reasonable questions by saying that how could we achieve women empowerment, when such a basic necessity like a sanitary pad or a tampon is not easily available? Twinkle also said, ''the government needs to understand that for a girl, sindoor might be important, but a tampon is way more than just a necessity."

PadMan features Akshay Kumar, Sonam Kapoor and Radhika Apte in prominent roles and is set to release in theatres on the Republic Day, January 26, 2018.
