Angelina Jolie says that she and boyfriend Brad Pitt are in a race to "see which one of us gets to retire first."
The 36-year-old actress told Anderson Cooper that her family likes their "nomadic lifestyle" but she also appreciates being at home away from the glare of the cameras.
Brad recently claimed that he wanted to retire in three years time at the age of 50. However, Angelina doesn't think it will be that soon but she is looking forward to when they can hang up their acting boots.
"We're both racing to see which one of us gets to retire first," Angelina said. "We both, like most people, we like being home.
"Whoever is the one who is home tends to be the happier one because we get to play with the kids and the other one is out earning the money."
Brad and Angelina always ensure they don't work at the same time so that at least one parent can look after their brood; Maddox, ten, Pax, eight, Zahara, six, Shiloh, five, and three-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne.
When asked if she is concerned that the children will soon tire of their globetrotting lifestyle, Angelina said she will play close attention if they start to feel unhappy.
"I will listen, as my mother would have, to them and if they start to complain about it right now they love it," she said.
"If they're in one place for two months they want to know why we're not getting on an airplane They're such a big travelling pack it's not one child moving around the world and missing friends.
"Because we have travelled a lot, we're kind of lucky in that we have friends around the world, so if we end up in Budapest or Germany or Africa or Vietnam, they actually call their friends."
Angelina added that one day her children may end up in faraway places that she and Brad will have to go to in order to see them.
"I don't want to settle," she said. "They'll probably all end up living all around the world. My old age will be Brad and I travelling around the world to try to visit our children in random countries."
