Anuradha Paudwal And Ravi Win Lata Mangeshkar Award

December 6, 2010 (Sampurn Wire): Music composer Ravi and playback singer Anuradha Paudwal are the winners of this years Lata Mangeshkar Award. First started by the Madhya Pradesh state government, this award is given to an outstanding singer or composer each year for their contribution to the world of film music. The award distribution event was held at the Nehru Stadium in the city of Indore this weekend. According to reports in the media, the Lata Mangeshkar Award was introduced in 1984-85, but was put on halt for the last two years following some unforeseen incidents.

Speaking to the audience from the stage of the Nehru Stadium, the octogenarian Ravi said that it was indeed an honor to receive an award that bears the name of his favorite singer of India. Speaking to the media after the distribution of awards were over, Ravi said that he feels privileged to have composed several tracks which went down to be some of the best songs produced by Bollywood in the voice of the legendary Lata Mangeshkar.

Anuradha Paudwal, on the other hand, has been relatively quiet for the past few years, but the singer is still loved by many in Bollywood who love to hear devotional songs in her voice. In a statement to the media, Anuradha Paudwal said that she has been listening to Lata Mangeshkars songs since her childhood years and therefore, felt honored at the moment of receiving an award named after Lata Mangeshkar.

The Lata Mangeshkar Award is held every year with over 26 recipients till now.
