Baldwin denied retrial against Costner

21st July 2012

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Stephen Baldwin's request for retrial in his lost lawsuit against Kevin Costner has been dismissed.

Stephen claimed that The Bodyguard star defrauded him out of millions of dollars.

The actor first filed suit against Kevin back in 2010, claiming the Hollywood star fraudulently advised him into selling shares in a company that builds machines to clean up oil spills.

After a trial that lasted a little over two weeks in June, a jury deliberated for less than two hours before returning their verdict in favour of Kevin.

This week US District Court Judge Martin Feldman was unimpressed by Stephen's motion to try the case again, as the actor presented most of the same evidence that was declared inadmissible in the first trial.

Stephen alleged that Kevin and his business partner had knowledge that the company was about to ink a deal to sell equipment to help in the BP oil disaster and didn't tell him about it.

Without knowing about the impending windfall, Stephen sold his shares back to the company.

Kevin's company apparently made $52 million from the deal with BP and Stephen wanted to be compensated to the tune of $21 million. (C) Cover Media
