Ben Affleck finds directing daunting

20th September 2010

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Ben Affleck says directing a movie is terrifying.

The Hollywood actor made his directing debut with the 2007 thriller Gone Baby Gone, which featured an all-star cast including his brother Casey Affleck and Morgan Freeman.

Bens latest filmmaking experience has been on The Town, a gritty crime drama starring Blake Lively, Jeremy Renner, Rebecca Hall and Ben himself.

The talented star admits he has been nervous about the reception his latest offering will receive, because he has devoted such a large part of his life to it.

It is terrifying, particularly if you are directing a movie. You spend almost two years working on it and it comes down to just one weekend, or one short space of time, he explained on the British television show Daybreak.

Fortunately for Ben, The Town has been receiving rave reviews from critics, who have claimed it is even better than the hugely successful Gone Baby Gone.

The 38-year-old was full of praise for the stars of the movie, saying Jeremy is incredible in his role as criminal James Coughlin, and admitting that he pleaded with British actress Rebecca to appear in the movie.

Jeremy Renner is in the movie and he is fabulous, Ben added. I got really lucky with the cast. Rebecca Hall is great too, I knew who she was and I knew she was wonderful. I didnt so much pick her as beg her to do the movie and luckily she said yes. (C) Cover Media
