Brandon Flowers: Religion inspires me

31st December 2010

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Brandon Flowers has admitted his Mormon beliefs greatly influence his song lyrics.

The 29-year-old has recently embarked on a solo career, releasing Flamingo in April, and is also lead singer with rock group The Killers.

He has been a Mormon since he was a child and despite his rock and roll profession tries to abide by the principles of the religion. His marriage to Tana Mundkowsky in 2005 and the birth of his two children, Ammon (named after a Mormon prophet) in 2007, and Gunner in 2009 have further helped to crystallise the musicians beliefs and lyric writing process, which he readily admits often have a foreboding undertone.

I'm a believer, so I definitely do. It's not that there's a cloud hanging over me. There's a reminder. I feel like there could be consequences that I should take responsibility for what I do. But it's a culmination of many things - growing up in Las Vegas, and that whole Sin City deal. All of these things tie into the lyrics, I guess, he said. (C) Cover Media
