(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Britney Spears is desperate to star in a comedy movie.

The 29-year-old singer took to Twitter yesterday to chat openly with loyal fans. During the conversation, she revealed that she would love to take on more acting roles.

It has been almost a decade since the popstar landed a starring role in film Crossroads, which was released in February 2002. She also appeared as Abby in American comedy How I Met Your Mother in 2008.

The singer has her heart set on being cast in a movie from either the man who created The Hangover, or the director of Knocked Up.

I love to act and would love to be in a Todd Philips or Judd Apatow movie (sic), Britney tweeted in response to a fans question.

The mother-of-two also implied her wild days are over during the discussion.

The singer went through a highly- publicised public breakdown in 2007. That year marked a period of strange behaviour by Britney, during which she shaved her head, got two new tattoos and hit the Los Angeles club scene. Shortly before she checked into a rehab facility, she attacked a paparazzo's car with an umbrella. She then endured another setback after a disastrous performance at the 2007 MTV Video Music Awards where she delivered a shambolic performance of Gimme More which was panned by fans and critics. In January 2008 she was put under lockdown at a mental institution.

Britney now insists she is enjoying her quieter life with sons Sean Preston, five, and four-year-old Jayden James.

"I'm really just a boring homebody who loves staying home with my kids and that's where I'm the happiest," she explained. (C) Cover Media
