'Chal Tu Apna Kaam Kar' shows Newton's struggle at his workplace

19th September 2017

After dominating the International Film Festivals around the world, winning series of awards in the Best Film category, 'Newton' is now set to hit Indian theatres on September 22, 2017. The film highlights the story of Newton played by Rajkummar Rao an honest government clerk on election duty who sincerely wants to conduct free and fair elections at the Maoist prone rural area. The Amit Masurkar directed comedy-drama has just one song featuring in the entire film named 'Chal Tu Apna Kaam Kar' performed by Amit Trivedi under the composition of Naren Chandavarkar and Benedict Taylor.

The song speaks about the dogmatic gossiping nature of the peeping people from the society in a casual funny tone. The poetic lyrics laid by Irshad Kamil are complimenting the folk-type composition.

"Aas-Pados Mein Kya Banta Hai Kya Hai Masala Kya Hai Tailh, Border Pe Aapni Sena Hai, Tu Tweet Kar Pe Chod Neh Saail." These activist lines are some classy lyrics from the song that makes everyone think deep about their own human behaviour as what's actually gone wrong with their act. Why are we so silly and judgemental all the times throwing bombs of judgement to the topics we don't even know.

As shown in the music video, we see Newton doing whatever it takes to perform his duty with honesty, cleaning the lazy system with sincerity. Rajkummar's character as Newton is in deep thoughts thinking that if everyone does their job by being true to your own self, the world can definitely be a better place.

Talking about how Rajkummar Rao got this film, in an interview with a leading publication he said,"Manish Mundra called me and then I met Amit (scriptwriter) who said he has written the script keeping me in mind. The moment I read the script, I fell in love with it. It’s such a unique story and something has never been told before. That’s what I look for in the scripts I sign, it was a challenge. I just read it and I said I am on. It has won so many awards and has done so well internationally."
