Charlie Sheen: I'm absolutely sober

14th September 2011

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Charlie Sheen says he is "absolutely" sober now.

The 46-year-old actor appeared on The Today Show for his first television interview since his infamous meltdown earlier this year.

He said although he was clean now, he could not say when the last time was that he had a drink or took drugs.

"I don't really keep track of the time," he said. "It's been a while."

The former Two and a Half Men star told host Matt Lauer that his life was a lot "calmer" since his rants caused a media storm and his catchphrase, "Winning" spawned merchandise and many copycats.

Charlie admitted that he felt he lost control of the situation.

"I don't really know what happened," he explained. "It was one of those things where the planets were aligned, perfectly or imperfectly."

"I said some stuff and then it caught such traction globally and instantly that I couldn't really put out the fire.

"From one moment to the next, I didn't know what was going to happen. It was pretty exciting."

Charlie says he enjoyed the journey but does have a couple of regrets.

"Looking back on it, I don't think I would trade it, but there are portions of it I would have amended a little bit," he admitted.

"I don't know, the tiger blood [thing], it was so silly and people took it so seriously and I figured, alright, I'll continue to give the people what they want, you know?"

Charlie also professes that he is more family oriented now that the "Goddesses" are no longer in his life and is getting on well with ex-wives Denise Richards and Brooke Mueller.

"I'm seeing my kids a lot more, mending fences with Denise and Brooke, just trying to move forward and prioritise what matters," he said.

"I think that's where the life is, you know, it's in those quiet moments. It's not the giant TV deal or the big party or the award or whatever, it's the memory of your child's smile at the end of the day that sort of brings that one lonesome tear, you know?" (C) Cover Media
