Charlie Sheen's TV return confirmed

18th July 2011

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Charlie Sheen has confirmed he is returning to television with new sitcom, Anger Management.

The 45-year-old actor, who was fired from his role on hit television show Two and a Half Men earlier this year, joked that it would be a "stretch" to play a character with serious character flaws, but that he was looking forward to getting back to work.

Anger Management will be loosely based on the 2003 big screen film starring Adam Sandler and Jack Nicholson, with Charlie starring in Jack's role.

The show centres around a "mild-mannered, non-confrontational man ordered to attend group anger management sessions led by a therapist who could probably use some anger management himself," according to a Lionsgate press release.

"I chose Anger Management because while it might be a big stretch for me to play a guy with serious anger management issues, I think it is a great concept," Charlie said wryly in a statement.

"It also provides me with real ownership in the series, a certain amount of creative control and the chance to be back in business with one of my favourite movie producers of all time, Joe Roth."

Charlie and Joe have worked together several times before including on Major League, Young Guns and The Three Musketeers. (C) Cover Media
