(Cover) - EN Star Style - Cheryl Cole looked so bad when she dyed her hair blonde that even her friend started crying and then complained to her hairdresser.

The Girls Aloud singer is famed for her brunette tresses. She keeps them long and lustrous and although she does sometimes experiment with different looks she coloured her locks red last year on the whole she never does anything too outlandish.

When she was younger the star liked experimenting though, and became convinced shed suit lighter hair. Even though she has dark skin and eyes she asked her hairstylist to dye her locks blonde, but instantly regretted it.

When I went blonde at 15, she replied, when asked her biggest hair mistake by the May edition of UK magazine Glamour. I had my hair bleached and it took eight hours because Im so dark naturally it took that long to lighten it. It was awful! When the hairdresser asked me what I thought, I was like, Oh, its lovely. But when I got home I cried. And then my friend came round she cried. She opened the door and went, What have you done? And then she went and complained to the hairdresser.

Cheryl enjoyed her brief flirtation with red hair last year, but is happier now shes back to her usual colour. She sees nothing wrong with changing up your look as long as it suits you, which is the reason shell never experiment with super-short tresses.

I want [to get an elfin crop] and I think that must be amazing to just wash, spray and go. But I wouldnt suit it, she explained. You have to have an unbelievable face to carry it off and confidence in abundance. (C) Cover Media
