Cox and Arquette help Coco cope with bullies

12th August 2011

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Courteney Cox and David Arquette have been telling their daughter she has a "special gift", after she was targeted by bullies.

Although the married couple announced they had separated last year, they have remained close for the sake of seven-year-old Coco. David attended an anti-bullying event last night and revealed several members of his family have been taunted by others.

"Yeah my sister Alexis is transgender and I just saw first-hand how kids treated her. Kids can be really cruel," he told OK! magazine, before talking about Coco. "Well you know she has been bullied, people have hurt her feelings and you just have to tell her and tell these kids that they're special, that they have a special gift that nobody else has, that they have a light inside of them that can be positive. You can choose to accept this negativity that's coming your way or you can rise above it and be the best person you can be."

David can't abide bullies and does his best to be kind to others. He embraces diverse personalities and tries to see something good in most people.

"I really try to be respectful of people and embrace and appreciate everybody's differences," he explained. "I try to be mindful of life."

David says he and Courteney regularly get together and talk to Coco about a range of issues. He believes communication is essential and claims his family is getting on better than ever.

"Yeah we talk quite a bit and we're really open and we're really communicative. She's really open too and she asks us questions," he added. "We all communicate much better now than ever before." (C) Cover Media
