(Cover) - EN Fashion - Donna Karan says fashion should be about looking good without a lot of effort.
The 61-year-old fashion designer is the namesake of the acclaimed American label DKNY (Donna Karan New York), which is celebrated for its modern apparel and comfortable daywear.
Donna thinks her clothes are so popular with busy, hardworking women because she always has them in mind when making garments. Donna accepts there are more important things in life than worrying about what to wear, and hopes to help women achieve effortless style.
To me, design and style should work toward making you look good and feel good without a lot of effort so you can get on with the things that matter.
I believe in comfort. If you dont feel comfortable in your clothes, its hard to think of anything else. On the other hand, when youre relaxed you feel confident, she explained in an interview with the Australian edition of Vogue.
Donna also discussed the future of fashion design, saying she thinks its becoming more and more important for designers to understand the minds of real women.
She also worries about how she can use her clothing range for a greater good, such as addressing world issues and helping raise awareness of problems.
Fashion is becoming more about addressing the woman than just dressing her. What does she care about? What drives her? How can we use fashion as a vehicle to speak for the important issues of the day? How can we marry commerce and philanthropy in a meaningful, productive way? she pondered. (C) Cover Media
