It was last week when Sanjay Dutt finally surrendered himself to prison where he spent a few days at the Arthur Road jail in Mumbai. The actor has now been shifted to Pune's Yerwada prison. He will spend the next 42 months there to complete his jail term.
Sanjay was convicted for the 1993 bomb blast case and after a lot of investigation and appealing, a jail term of 5 years was announced for the actor. Since he has already served 18 months, he now has to serve the remaining term.
The actor will now be spending time as a convict and he will have to wear a jail uniform. He is allotted the 'qaidi' or prisoner number 16656.
Citing threat to his life, Sanjay will soon be lodged in an 'Anda cell' or egg-shaped cell at the Pune jail for his security. The cell is half sunk into the ground and is considered to be one of the most secure cells in the prison.
