Edward Norton was proud to work with De Niro

7th October 2010

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Edward Norton says working with Robert De Niro on new movie Stone was the kind of experience hed always dreamed of.

The actors have appeared together on screen before 2001s The Score, about a con who was convinced to do one last job by a younger thief. Stone is a very different film, which is one of the reasons Edward was keen to appear in it. He plays the title character, who is nearing the end of his prison sentence. In the movie, Stone must prove to his parole officer, Jack played by Robert - that he is ready to go free.

The two actors felt Stone was a good fit for them, and are proud of what they accomplished.

He was really supportive of me and encouraging me even before we did The Score, Edward explained to MTV News. So I felt good going into that one, but the nature of the material, it was a lot of fun. It wasn't maybe what you dream of when you say, 'Oh, I'd love to do a movie with Robert De Niro someday.' This was much more that.

Robert clearly felt the same way, as it was him who convinced Edward to appear in Stone. The two men discussed how they would play their characters at great length, which Edward found thrilling.

When I found out he was in it, and he rang me up too and said, 'This could be really good for us,' that was exciting, he said. I definitely felt that this will be good for us, and we know each other's rhythms and we can really mix it up in a way that would be thrilling to me. (C) Cover Media
