(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Elisabetta Canalis did not "stand a chance" at winning Dancing with the Stars, claims her dance partner.

George Clooney's ex-girlfriend was eliminated as a contestant on the US television show this week. Professional dancer Val Chmerkovskiy believes Elisabetta's exit from the contest was inevitable.

"I can't say what the public perception of Elisabetta was, but I do know that going up against David Arquette's fanbase or Chaz Bono's publicity frenzy, she didn't stand a chance," Val told RadarOnline.

"She's not known in this country aside from her past relationships."

Although audiences may not be impressed with Elisabetta's dance moves, Val remains extremely fond of his partner.

"She's a beautiful Italian woman," Val said.

"She's a pleasant person to be around though, she has a big heart."

Elisabetta is heartbroken over her departure from the show.

"She was sad. It's sad when you get eliminated, for many different reasons," Val said.

Elisabetta trained hard for the show. Earlier this month she commented on how content she was while training.

"I'm honest when I say, this is the happiest moment of my life," Elisabetta told FOX411. "I'm trying to eat more, more, and more because I'm burning a lot. I have athletic training everyday so it's very physical." (C) Cover Media
