Elton John shuns modern technology

4th February 2011

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Sir Elton John has admitted he has an old-fashioned approach to music and doesnt do iPods or mobile phones.

The 63-year-old British musician is one of the worlds top recording artists, having enjoyed success in the industry since the 1960s.

Elton makes sure he is always up-to-date with the current music scene, and has a weekly routine which allows him to purchase the latest albums. The star isnt interested in listening to singles, as he thinks an entire album gives a far greater indication of an artists talent. He also doesnt care about using modern technology to listen to music, as he prefers the old-fashioned way.

I dont do freebies, I dont do iPods, I dont even do mobile phones. I hate the idea that people pick up one song, I want to hear the complete album, he explained.

Every Monday, HMV sends me a list of new CDs and Ill order copies for all my houses and my car. On Tuesdays Ill order my American CDs. I get an advance list, I cross them off and I write down everything in a book same with books and DVDs. Im very organised.

The multi-talented star also thinks his success in the industry stems from his down-to-earth attitude. He refused to become a recluse when his career blossomed, as he believed it would have a detrimental effect on his work.

I listen to music all the time and I mix with musicians constantly. A lot of artists cut off, but I believe in plugging into everything around me and getting to know people through thick and thin, he told British newspaper The Daily Mirror. (C) Cover Media
