Emma Watson determined to act'

12th July 2011

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Emma Watson is finally sure she wants to be an actress, after shooting her first proper post Harry Potter movie.

The star has grown up on screen after winning the role of Hermione Granger when she was a child. She has struggled with the way appearing in the famed franchise has affected her life, famously taking time away from work to enrol in a US university.

Next year the star will be seen in The Perks of Being a Wallflower, about a freshman who is encouraged to live life to the full by pals. She plays Sam in the picture and says shooting it was life changing.

"The Perks of Being a Wallflower was just the most incredible experience. Having an experience like that outside Harry Potter is what convinced me acting really is what I should be doing," she explained.

"I'm excited about the idea of being an actress now in a way that I wasn't so sure of before."

Hermione will always have a special place in Emma's heart though. She's got used to being recognised as the bookish student, revealing she was even stopped while visiting a shanty town in Bangladesh.

The 21-year-old explained she and Hermione share so many personality traits it sometimes feels as if they're interchangeable.

"I'm very heady in the same way that she is, kind of constantly thinking three or four moves ahead. I try to intellectualise a lot, which she does well. She's very determined. I am as well," she said. "I feel so much of me went into her and so much of her went into me that I can't really differentiate too much anymore."

Emma loves how strong-minded Hermione is, and hopes she has that trait too. She worries too much pressure is put on young women to conform and that's not something she agrees with. Emma looks to her mother for inspiration, as she's been so impressed with how wells he's juggled her career and family life.

"I feel like young girls are told they have to be this kind of princess and be all this sweet stuff. It's all bulls**t," she is quoted as saying by British newspaper The Sun. "I identify with more of being a warrior princess, so if I had to be a princess, I'd have to kick some ass first. That would have a lot of people terrified." (C) Cover Media
