Emma Watson regrets shopping in bridesmaid department

1st November 2010

(Cover) - EN Star Style - Emma Watson cringes when she thinks of some of things shes worn to film premieres, as she used to borrow outfits from her step-mother.

The actress is best known for playing Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter movies, the first of which came out when she was 11. It means Emma has grown up in the limelight, and while she is now a stylish young woman, it hasnt always been that way.

The star is mortified when she thinks of some of the outfits she used to wear, and wishes shed enlisted the help of a stylist as soon as she hit the big time.

Everyone imagines stylists were on tap from the studio but we got nothing. Sometimes I had two days notice before an event and there was nothing appropriate for a 14-year-old to wear. Id look in my wardrobe and... literally nothing. It was either borrow from my step-mother, or go to the bridesmaid department at [UK upmarket department store] Harrods, she explained to British Vogue.

My step-mother once turned up at my dads club in thigh-high boots. He went a bit mad. Her clothes definitely looked better on her than they did on me. Ive grown into them slightly, but I cringe when I look back at some of the things Ive worn.

Emma unveiled a cropped hairstyle earlier this year. She says chopping her locks was liberating, as she had been banned from doing so until the final Harry Potter movie wrapped. She wasnt allowed to alter her tresses or get a tan for continuity purposes, so was adamant she would undergo a transformation as soon as she could.

I didnt realise until afterwards how significant it was because, of course, the hair was Hermiones defining feature, she mused. (C) Cover Media
