Farhan Akhtar gets inspired from Milkha singh

24th January 2012

Milkha Singh has been an Indian Athlete, and considered to be one of the greatest Athletes the nation has ever produced, under the guidance of his mentor Havaldar Gurdev Singh.

Actor-filmmaker Farhan Akhtar, who plays India's most famous athlete in Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra's "Bhaag Milkha Bhaag", is looking forward to meeting Milkha Singh's trainer Havaldar Gurdev Singh, who will train him for his role of the Flying Singh.

Farhan had earlier met the Padma Shri recipient in Delhi, and now is looking forward to discussing training tips with Milkha's trainer. A source close to him says that he is following a strict diet and all his energies are focused on the training. “He is also growing his hair so that he can tie a turban like Milkha,” says the source.

Milkha set a record in the 400-metres at the 1958 Asian Games, won the first gold medal in the Commonwealth Games in the same year and then made it to the final of the 400 metre run in the 1960 Olympics. “We want Farhan's character to look as authentic as possible,” says Rakeysh.
