One of Bollywood's topmost directors-producers Subhash Ghai will be celebrating his 67th birthday today.

Subhash Ghai was born on 24th January 1945 in Nagpur, India.

Subhash Ghai is famous for making epic films like "Khalnayak", "Saudagar", "Ram Lakhan", "Karma" . All these movies became huge bollywood blockbusters .

His directorial break was the film "Kalicharan" starring Shatrughan Sinha, which was one of the biggest hits of its time. He has written and directed 15 movies out of which 13 were highly successful. In 1986, he won the National Award for his movie "Karma".

In 1982, he formed a company - Mukta Arts Private Limited which, in 2000, became a public company. Subhash Ghai is its chairman and managing director.

"Pardes" and "Taal" were released internationally and featured in the Top 20 movies in USA for several weeks.

Subhash Ghai generally appears in one shot of every movie he makes. It could be just a line in the middle of a song, but is typically very short and irrelevant to the movie.

His films are said to be have strong patriotic undertones and show a comparison in the lives of Indians and that of westerners.

Each of his 1990s films feature one Rajasthani styled fast paced song number in the movie.

One of the most accomplished directors in the hindi film world, with his speacialty being big , epic films.
