(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Florence Welch says she feels "possessed" by witchcraft when she's performing on stage.

The British songstress lead singer of Florence + the Machine is famed for her energetic stage performances, and often climbs onto speakers and other equipment.

The 24-year-old singer, whose hits include Dog Days are Over and Rabbit Heart (Raise it Up), has revealed she often goes into a trance-like state when she's in front of an audience, and loses control of her actions.

"It's a feeling of being possessed. It's a strange sort of witchcraft, almost like voodoo or something. I see people in the audience and it's like we're all in it together, but at the same time, you're disappearing," she revealed in an interview with Nylon magazine.

Florence was initially inspired by male performers. The redheaded star says she loved the "debauchery" that was often included in their sets and it made her want to produce the same kind of entertainment.

"When I would see live bands, I wanted to do it like they did it. I was drawn to make performers and that aggression and how debauched it was. It was also shamanic, and I always thought I would love to do something so powerful," she mused.

Florence suffers from dyspraxia a motor learning difficulty that can affect planning of movements and co-ordination as a result of brain messages not being accurately transmitted to the body.

The stunning star says despite her condition, she always manages to remember her song lyrics word for word.

"I've never had any problem reading, it was just maths and organisation and remembering dates, names. I could always remember songs though! I could always sing them back. My brain's just wired funny," she explained. (C) Cover Media
