Gandhi protests for 'Mallikarjuna' ouster

2nd June 2011
Even before the box-office results are in for 'Mallikarjuna', in three days, fifteen theatres have changed advertisements appearing in the newspapers and this has obviously hurt the producer, Dinesh Gandhi.

The rush of films for the coming week June 3rd – 'Rajadhani', 'Dushta' and 'Johny Mere Naam' has resulted in grabbing the theatres that are showing 'Mallikarjuna' that is doing a moderate collection. According to the KFCC guidelines, only two films should be released in a week and good running Kannada films should not be interfered with.

Producer Dinesh Gandhi argued on these two points. "If the Showman of Kannada cinema V. Ravichandran is treated like this, what will be the fate of debutante producers," asks Dinesh Gandhi. He staged a dharna in front of the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce. The intervention of KFCC conciliatory committee temporarily solved the crisis.

Dinesh Gandhi condemned the release of three big films Johny Mere Naam, Dushta and Rajadhani. "The removal of my film in one week, despite moderate collection, would speak badly about the film. That should not happen.", he lamented.
