(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Gavin DeGraw is officially back on tour after rehabilitating from injuries sustained during a vicious attack.

Gavin began performing again this week with bands Maroon 5 and Train after being jumped by a group of assailants on August 8. Donned in sunglasses that potentially protected his black eyes from view, fans commented on his outstanding performance.

"[Gavin] was energetic and totally sounded great," an audience member said to Entertainment Weekly.

Gavin was forced to cancel a string of shows after being assaulted by an unknown group of attackers in New York City. His multiple injuries as a result of the beating included a concussion, a broken nose, black eyes, cuts and bruises.

This random act of violence is difficult for Gavin to remember. The main thing he recalls about the event is its intense brutality.

"I remember maybe three guys said something to me and I didn't appreciate it, and I guess I let them know I didn't appreciate it," Gavin recalled to People magazine earlier this week. "They weren't exactly on the debate team, so I ended up with a tube down my throat."

The Maroon 5 and Train tour will grace states across the US and Canada through September. (C) Cover Media
