(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Gavin DeGraw has cancelled a string of concert performances as a result of his injuries from an unsolicited attack in New York City this week.
The 34-year-old singer and songwriter was on his way home from hanging out with his friends on Monday, when a random group of assailants attacked him.
Gavin suffered from a few injuries including "concussion, broken nose, black eyes, cuts and bruises" according to his spokesperson.
Upon release from the hospital on Tuesday Gavin is now in stable condition.
To assist his recovery, Gavin has decided to cancel a few upcoming tour dates and recuperate at home.
Domestic gigs with bands Maroon 5 and Train scheduled between August 14 to August 22 in Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Indiana, Iowa, Illinois, Michigan and one show in Toronto, Canada will be cancelled. Gavin is expected to rejoin the tour in Maryland on August 24.
Although unable to perform, Gavin displays a high level of appreciation for his fans. Their concern acts as a stalwart support system in his recovery.
"Hi my friends," Gavin messaged on social media site Twitter Tuesday. "Honestly, I don't remember much. I only know I can recover from here. Thank u all for your genuine concern. I love u guys (sic)."
The police are currently investigating the attack.
Gavin's newest album, Sweeter, is set to be released in September. (C) Cover Media
