(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Gemma Arterton will pursue theatre if her film career doesn't pan out.

The British actress is highly devoted to her craft. She loves acting in movies, but in the unlikely event that her film career stalls she would relish the opportunity to return to the stage. She appeared in The Little Dog Laughed in London's West End last year and loved every second of it.

"Theatre is a huge passion of mine," Gemma told Glamour magazine. "The theatre scene in London is the best in the world. But we'll see how long my career in film will last!"

Since debuting in 2007 with her highly lauded role in the film Capturing Mary, Gemma has garnered many accolades for her talents and several coveted roles as a result. She enjoys more challenging roles, but acting can get punishing at times.

"You have to work harder for the grittier stuff. In Alice Creed I played a woman who thought she was going to be killed at any minute. Trying to create that feeling for four weeks was quite intense and very exhausting," she explained.

Gemma still loves acting even though certain roles can get taxing. Her fondness for diversity keeps her in the profession.

"One of the reasons I wanted to be an actor was that I hated monotony. I can't do the same kind of roles all the time," she said. (C) Cover Media
