The Telugu Movie Artistes Assocation (MAA) has decided to ban Genelia D'Souza and others from acting in Telugu movies, if they fail to take up membership in the actor’s guild before December 1.
"Though some actresses have been part of Telugu movies for more than seven years, they are reluctant to take up the membership so we are forced to issue a non-co-operation notice against them," an office-bearer of MAA reportedly said.
On Tuesday, the Movie Artistes Association decided to extend its deadline till this month end for non-Telugu actors to take membership of the association. "We will announce our decision against those who missed the deadline on December 1," MAA president M Murali Mohan said.
In response to the directive of the MAA, several heroines and artistes from other languages have taken membership but some are yet to take. "We understand that some actors are currently abroad and we have not been able to reach out to them. But we have extended the time till this month end for them to take membership," he said.
