George Clooney: I'm an awful singer

15th October 2011

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - George Clooney has joked his "terrible" singing on the O Brother, Where Art Thou? soundtrack ended his music career before it had begun.

The American actor starred in the 2000 comedy film directed by the Coen brothers. The movie was accompanied by a soundtrack produced by T-Bone Burnett, and George says performing for it wasn't his strong point.

"I actually thought I could sing, until T-Bone Burnett brought me into the studio for O Brother, Where Art Thou? I started to sing Man of Constant Sorrow. The Coens were there and I said, That went pretty well, didn't it fellas?''' he quipped in an interview with Total Film.

"Then they played it back and it was terrible, and my singing career had gone, just as quickly as it started."

George says people noticed his other strengths on set however. The Hollywood hunk was praised for his intellect.

"The only note they told me on that film was that, You're the smartest guy in the room and to remember that you're always the smartest guy in the room.' I don't think that necessarily idiots think they're idiots," he said. (C) Cover Media
