Gwen Stefani tries to live "in the moment".
The 42-year-old singer is currently promoting her new album with No Doubt. Push and Shove took some time to put together, as Gwen and her bandmates were also juggling family life. She raises two sons with her husband Gavin Rossdale and she has learned to put less stress on herself when it comes to balancing her career and her children.
"[With this record] I just felt I was trying every day to not rush and to not feel pressured, like, 'Oh, it has to come out now because of my age,' or whatever," she told the latest edition of UK magazine Elle. "You can't predict what's going to happen, you just have to live in the moment."
Gwen accepts that it's not always possible to achieve everything with both her music and her family. It is difficult to balance the two demands and "there are always days that somebody suffers".
However, Gwen loves having a successful career and also spending time with six-year-old Kingston and Zuma, four.
"Being a mom is hard, I think a lot of working moms feel that way. [They want] to have time to be themselves as well but there's a price to pay," she explained. "Like today, I'm here talking to you and my son is at the beach. It would be super fun to watch his little four-year-old chunky legs running around, you know."
