28th February 2011

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Gwyneth Paltrow said singing at last nights Academy Awards was so, like, freaking serious.

The Hollywood actress was just one of the big names who provided musical entertainment at last nights star-studded movie ceremony at the Kodak Theater in Hollywood.

Gwyneth took to the stage to perform Coming Home from her film Country Strong, which had been nominated in the best original song category but lost out to Randy Newman for the song We Belong Together from Toy Story 3.

Gwyneths performance went down a storm, although the star had been extremely nervous beforehand, telling MTV the ceremony was so, like, freaking serious compared to her performance at the Grammy Awards where she sung Forget You with Cee-Lo Green.

Another top Hollywood star to impress audiences with her vocal capabilities last night was singer-and-actress Mandy Moore, who looked beautiful in a floaty blue gown as she performed I See the Light from animation Tangled which was also nominated in the best original song category. Mandy provided the voice of Rapunzel in the film, and was joined on stage by co-star Zachary Levi, while Alan Menken played piano.

Rising British songstress Florence Welch, frontwoman of Florence and the Machine, also gave an impressive performance. The talented singer accompanied A.R. Rahman in a rendition of If I Rise, from the film 127 Hours, as images from the movie appeared in the background. The song was nominated in the best original song category, and Florence could see why.

"When the song comes, it's a very emotional moment," she explained. "It's the moment when James Franco's character realises what he has to do." (C) Cover Media
