(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Hilary Duff does not want her baby's gender to be a "surprise".

The star is currently pregnant with her first child with hockey player husband Mike Comrie. Hilary is counting down the days until she knows for sure whether her child is a girl or boy.

"The countdown has begun. Every single day, I'm like, oh my gosh, seven more days!' " Hilary told OK! magazine.

"I'm so not the person who could wait and have it be a surprise. I give them respect, but I don't know how people do that. I need to be totally prepared. I think it's going to help me feel even more connected to it, to know what it is."

Hilary has recently remodeled her home to accommodate her upcoming arrival. The finishing touches on the renovations won't be made until her child's gender is confirmed.

"I was like let's rework the closet.' We put a great bathtub in there that will make it really easy to bathe a baby," Hilary explained.

"We haven't done any design stuff. We have to find out if we're going to be a boy or a girl before we can come up with colours."

The actress is elated to have such a loving partner in Mike. His support throughout her pregnancy gives Hilary great joy.

"He's a really good guy. I feel very lucky. He's really, really excited about the baby," Hilary said. (C) Cover Media
