Another prestigious honor has come to Dr Girish Karnad the Jnanapeeth award winner from Karnataka. The prolific actor, director and writer Dr Girish Karnad has another honorary doctorate from University of Southern California, Los Angeles says the communication from President CL Max Nikias. This honor is bestowed on him to pioneering contribution as a playwright as well as the seminal role he has played in shaping modern Indian theatre and the honor also 'recognizes stellar accomplishments as writer, actor and director for film and television'. Dr Girish Karnad is the first Kannadiga theatre person to be honored by the USC and at the Commencement Ceremony on Friday 13 May 2011; he will share the honor with five other distinguished people, including Steven A. Ballmer, Chief Executive Officer, Microsoft Corporation and Herald Zur Hausen, virologist and Nobel Laureate.
