October 30, 2010 (Sampurn Wire): Howard K. Stern was found to be guilty of contributing to the murder of Anna Nicole Smith, his ex- lover. Smith had also been his client and confidant once upon a time. Los Angeles Superior court found Stern guilty of two different counts of conspiracy on Thursday. They constituted of giving false names as well as procuring of drugs by false prescriptions. The second charge was considered to be an action of fraud. The charges leveled against him also included his fueling her drug addiction which turned fatal.
Of the medical practitioners who had treated Anna Nicole Smith during her life time, Dr. Khristine Eroshevich was charged on four counts. The other doctor Sandeep Kapoor, was, however, absolved on all the counts.
Sandi Gibbons, the spokesperson for the DA met with reporters outside the court premises on Thursday afternoon. She said that the defendants were likely to get a maximum of three years in the state prison. The actual sentencing for both the defendants has been scheduled for the 6th of January 2011.
Stern had been a long time attorney of Anna Nicole Smith and spent a long time trying to prove that it had been Larry Birkhead who had fathered Smiths daughter.
Although found guilty on four counts he was acquitted of seven other charges which included obtaining opiates on the basis of false information.
The jury had been out on the case for almost two weeks before they reached a conclusion.
