Irrfan questions Barfi's Oscar nomination

3rd October 2012

There have been more controversies than compliments for Indian Film Federation's decision to send 'Barfi' to Oscars as India's official Entry for the Academy Awards.

Post the selection, many big wigs of the industry had raised concerns over the biases and ignorance towards other critically acclaimed films.

While 'Barfi' too was critically praised, it was also lashed out for being a rip off of many Hollywood classics. And the latest to raise questions over 'Barfi's nomination, is Bollywood star Irrfan Khan.

Like Vidya Balan's 'Kahaani', Irrfan's 'Paan Singh Tomar' too was pinned up as the front runner for being chosen. But at the end, Ranbir's flick won the nomination.

Irrfan, however, is not upset with its selection, but is concerned about India's representation on the international turf.

"I wish we would be as serious about Oscars in our country! Oscars affect your market hugely. In spite of knowing that a few scenes from 'Barfi!' have been copied, our film federation chose it over something which is original. How can that film stand a chance of making it to the nomination list?" questioned Irrfan.

We wonder what the team of 'Barfi' has to say over it now.
